Getting Up and out of Bed

Went out to visit Joe today and they were getting him out of bed.  They got his turtle shell back on him and moved the bed all the way up and were getting his feet back on the floor, after 6 weeks of being off of them.  He was a little light headed but that is to bed expected. We are so excited that things are moving forward for him.  Each day seems to be bring new things for him.  GO JOE !

out of the hospital

Joe is out of the hospital and into a new physicality call "Compass Rehabilitation Center".  It is found in South Jordan 1371 W South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan Utah 801-253-1370.  head out on a 106 South turn left at the Maverick on 1300 West about 30-50 feet and head west ( right) go down first land.

Joe is loving the visitors.  He is not doing any rehab yet, so until he has his days full of that he is ready for visitors all day long.  Take a few min and go visit Joe this week. He and Brendalyn would both appreciate it and love it.

Thanks for all the love and support

July 21- at IMC

Joe is at IMC in room 1130, he is just hanging trying to heal.   He still has another week or more that he needs to lay down flat before they will consider letting him get up.  They will look at his spine at that time.  He got a few of the tubes out but still has a few more in him.  His spirits are pretty good, he really enjoys visitors. He has a positive attitude and a smile on his face.  He seems to enjoy his food a little more.

Love you Joe !

getting out of ICU again, July 18th

Joe is getting out of ICU today.
Joe really looks great and seems to be feeling much better.  He even got his hair washed today.  He thought his hair was a little bit fluffy but I am sure all the nurses loved his white flowing locks.  They rolled his bed outside to be in the sun shine for just a min yesterday and they were going to do it again on the way up to his new room.  Hopefully he will be in the hospital for a few more days before they try sending him home or another location.
Pray for the him to have wonderful nurses. They make all the difference.

Diet plans

Joe is doing much better.  He has smiles on his face and his pain level has gone down.  We are so glad that he is moving in the right direction. Joe enjoys visitors, although ICU can be kind of picky on how many people they let in.  He is starting to eat some real food. He shared with us that the weight he was hoping to lose some time in the future, he has lost during this last month while laying in bed.  We all agreed it is a difficult way to lose the weight.
Brendalyn and Joe say thank you for all the prayers in Joe's behalf.

July 15th, surgery

Joe had surgery this morning and the doctor felt like it went well.  He had to have his lungs worked on again and drain off all the fluid around his lungs.  He had some pockets of blood that were happy to escape from his body, that were causing him pain.  He was not thrilled when he came out of surgery to find all the tubes coming out of him once again. He already has started getting them out. Everyone feels that with good behavior and his body reacting well he will continue getting them out.

He still needs to be flat for his back.  He has another two weeks for his back to heal then they will reassess his back and make decisions at that point. Tomorrow will mark 4 weeks since the accident.

checked in

They did keep him and he is checked in and back up in ICU.  We will keep you posted as things change.

night and a day and another night, July 14th

Well, it has been a very long 30 hours.  Joe came home yesterday around 4:00 pm and his pain level was at a point that he should have not come home at all. Brendalyn and Krista took turns being up with him all night, a call was made at midnight to get some help to move him to get Joe more comfortable. He felt like he was laying on a bed of rocks. No matter what was done for him his pain level could not get in control and Joe was vey uncomfortable. Talking soft and trying not to complain.
A home health care nurse came this morning and was only there for a few hours. He was not able to do much for him.  Another one came tonight because things just didn't seem right. After doing a few things and talking to the Doctor that discharged him a decision was made to call 911. It was time to have him go back to the hospital.
The EMT's and firemen did such of nice job of moving him and taking good care of him.  The kids all thought it was cool to have the fire truck and ambulance in the neighborhood. They are currently in the ER and we are just waiting and praying that they will just keep him at the hospital were he can get the proper care, and hopefully get his pain level in control.
Love you Joe !

July 11 more changes

Joe looks like he will not be going to a rehab... he is going to be going home.  He is really excited about that and looking forward to it.  If everything can get pulled together soon enough he will be going on Wednesday. Since he needs to be down and keeping still while those bones heal, it will be great that he can be at home. He is enjoying visitors and it will make it even nicer when they he is at home.

Joe we are so happy for you... we will keep those prayers coming your way.
